Exclusive | Nyu Langone Health by throwing $ 60 million in women’s health – what patients can wait

The Filanthropist Allison Mignone has made his diagnosis of breast cancer triple negative into a positive development for women’s health.

Mignone and her husband, Roberto, made a $ 50 million donation to transform the outpatient center of Nyu Langone East 53rd Street in the collaboration of Mignone’s women’s health.

The Griffin Healthspan and the Vitality Center will open on the second floor thanks to a $ 10 million gift from the founder of Citadel, Ken Griffin. The work will begin next year.

“My vision is for women to look,” Mignone told The Post.

“Many times, we are not honest with what we are experiencing. We precipitate, we overlook each other,” he added. “I really wanted to help create something to change, whether you are coming for a routine review or browsing a horrible diagnosis or just asking questions about your health.”

Joan H. Tisch Center for Women’s Health, which was opened in 2011, will be part of the new collaboration.

The initiative unites 125 expert suppliers in 20 important areas in women’s health, such as preventive care, pregnancy support, health health and fibromas treatment.

“You are going to receive a holistic care, not silenced,” said Mignone.

For his part, Mignone learned three years ago that he had a negative breast cancer, an aggressive disease characterized by the absence of three key receptors, limiting treatment options.

Nyu Langona’s surgical oncologist, Dr. Deborah Axelrod, removed the cancer from Mignone’s right chest. At the same time, the breast cosmetic and plastic surgeon, Dr. Mihye Choi, reduced the size of the left chest to match.

“It was really that transformative cancer diagnosis that changed me,” said Mignone.

“I felt so fortunate in my life because I had these resources, these amazing doctors, my family to give me support, friends,” he continued, “and realized that there are many other women who do not have this kind of support, they do not have a clear plan, they do not receive holistic care and this is not fair.”

Patients can expect advanced images, RMN for muscle/fat composition, longevity and cancer projections, and registration in clinical studies if at high risk.

The Griffin Healthspan and the Center of Vitality will emphasize the ways in which women can stay active and healthy as they grow old, nutritional training, well -being classes and therapy for stress care, trauma and combustion, among other services.

“For so long, women have wanted to feel taken care of by the whole people, and in this environment, we finally do it really,” The Post told Dr. Elizabeth Begin, a breast oncologist and a collaborative co-director.

“ In fact, we will teach women how to exercise, how to lift their weights properly, how they really look at 4 ounces of chicken, as opposed to saying only: “ limit the amount of carbohydrates you eat or limit the amount of fat you eat, ” he added. ” That we will give real advice to real women who are based on evidence is very exciting for me. “

Griffin said in a statement that he was “honored to join the Mignone family to extend access to avant-garde programs for women in important fields such as physical vitality, the science of movement and mental and emotional health, helping people live to live longer and the healthiest life.”

“For so long, women have wanted to feel cared for as the whole people go on foot, and in this environment, we finally do so,” said Dr. Elizabeth Begin, a breast oncologist and collaborative co-director. Mateo Salcedo

Collaboration will also help establish women’s health courses at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, examining ways to better serve women.

Women’s health needs have been historically neglected, causing delayed or lost diagnoses, inadequate treatment and poorer health results.

“Each generation of women deserves to live longer and healthy than those before, and this is my goal,” said Mignone.

A four -daughter’s mother, Mignone, is a member of the Nyu Langone Supervisory Board, an advisory board. Roberto A. Mignone, founder and president of Bridger Management LLC, is vice -president of the Nyu Langone Board of Trustees.

The couple have funded initiatives such as the Mignone Center for the success of the race in Harvard and the Rooms of Allison and Roberto Mignone of GEMS and Minerals at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
